These Terms govern your access to and use of Genie. By using Genie you agree to them. Please read them carefully — they include important limitations of liability and your dispute-resolution options.

The Genie platform

Genie is a technology marketplace that connects customers with independent service professionals and real-estate partners. Except where expressly stated for Genie-managed jobs that Genie facilitates, Genie is not the service provider, employer or agent of any pro and is not a party to the contract for services between you and a pro. Pros are independent contractors responsible for their own work, licensing and insurance.

Eligibility & accounts

You must be of legal age and able to form a binding contract. You are responsible for your account, its security, and all activity under it. Provide accurate information and keep it current.

Bookings, pricing & payments

Prices are shown upfront for managed jobs or by quote for projects. You authorize Genie and its payment processor to charge your payment method. Funds may be held in escrow and released on your approval of completion. Genie may set, change or correct prices, fees and commissions at its sole discretion. Applicable taxes are added.

Conduct & acceptable use

You agree to use Genie lawfully and to follow our Acceptable Use Policy, including no circumvention of the platform (taking jobs, pros or customers off-platform), no fraud, scraping or misuse.

Reviews & content

You grant Genie a licence to use content you submit (such as reviews and photos) to operate and promote the service. You are responsible for content you provide and must have the rights to it.

Disclaimers

The platform and services are provided “as is” and “as available” to the fullest extent permitted by law. Genie does not warrant any particular outcome of a pro’s services and disclaims implied warranties except those that cannot be excluded by law.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Genie’s total liability arising from or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid to Genie for the booking giving rise to the claim. Genie is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Genie harmless from claims arising out of your use of the platform, your content, or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

Suspension & termination

Genie may suspend, limit or terminate access, remove content, or decline service at its sole discretion, including for violations of these Terms or our policies. You may stop using Genie at any time.

Dispute resolution & governing law

Most issues are resolved quickly through support. For disputes not resolved informally, the parties agree to resolve them by binding arbitration where permitted by law, and waive participation in class proceedings to the extent enforceable. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada; for users in the United States, the laws of the applicable state and U.S. federal law apply where required. Nothing here removes rights that cannot be waived under your local law.

Changes

We may update these Terms; continued use after changes means you accept them.
