Cost guide · 2026A clear, honest guide to event photography pricing in Canada — what drives the cost, whether to DIY, how to save, and how to get a firm number instead of a guess.
The biggest drivers are the shoot type, hours of coverage, deliverables, and turnaround. Two jobs that sound the same can price differently once these are accounted for — which is exactly why a firm upfront price for your specific job beats a vague ballpark that moves later.
Pro gear and skill are the point — match the specialist to the shoot. When you do hire, booking a vetted, insured pro protects you — and on Genie, the price is shown upfront and any on-site change is approved by you first.
Get a firm upfront price so there are no surprises, bundle related tasks into one visit where it makes sense, book ahead of seasonal peaks, and keep the work on a platform that holds payment until the job's confirmed done. Comparing vetted pros on past work — not just price — avoids the cheap quote that costs more later.
