Genie accepts ads that help people buy, sell, move or run a home. Every ad is reviewed before it goes live and must follow the rules below (Competition Act, Ad Standards, CASL & provincial regulators).
1 · Relevance
Ads must be clearly related to real estate, homes, moving or homeownership. Unrelated products are not accepted.
2 · Truthful & substantiated
No false, misleading or exaggerated claims. Savings, performance, “#1” and environmental claims must be backed by evidence; leaving out key facts (fees, conditions) is also prohibited. (Competition Act)
3 · Clear disclosure
Every ad is labelled Sponsored / Partner. Testimonials must be genuine, and any paid or material connection disclosed (e.g. #Ad). (Ad Standards Code)
4 · Financial offers
Must hold any required licence (FSRA / provincial) and disclose rates / APR, fees & conditions. Not accepted: APR of 36%+, payday / short-term loans, credit repair, for-profit debt settlement.
5 · Messaging & privacy
Any outreach follows CASL — consent, identify yourself, include unsubscribe. Handle personal data under PIPEDA; no misuse of sensitive financial or health data.
6 · Not allowed
Illegal products, adult content, gambling, weapons, discriminatory content, fake reviews or “proof”, and anything that circumvents a Genie booking (taking pros or customers off-platform).

Genie Terms of Service & Privacy
1. What Genie is. Genie connects you with independent, vetted service professionals. Genie facilitates booking, messaging and payment; the pro performs the work.
2. Payments & escrow. Prices are shown upfront. A small booking fee applies ($4.99 per booking, waived with Genie Plus — members also get member pricing); taxes are added where applicable. Payment is held in escrow and released to the pro only after you approve the completed job.
3. Your card. Card payments are processed by our PCI-compliant processor (Stripe). Genie never sees or stores your full card number — only a secure token.
4. Cancellation. Cancel free up to 24 hours before your booking. Later cancellations may incur a fee as set out in the cancellation policy.
5. Conduct & safety. Pros are ID-verified and background-checked for their trade. Keep communication and payment on-platform. Report any issue in-app.
6. Your data & privacy. We use your information to run the service, match pros and keep your account secure. We never sell your personal data. You can delete your data and close your account at any time.
7. Liability. Genie facilitates and holds funds; it is not the employer of the pros. Eligible issues are covered under the Genie Protection terms.

How crew jobs are assigned
Jobs that need 2+ people (movers, cleaning teams, junk removal) go to your whole crew at once — each teammate accepts their own slot on their own account. Everyone must be an individually verified Genie pro; no unvetted helpers, no cash between you, no side deals off Genie. If your crew is one short, Genie tops up the team with the nearest vetted pro.
How everyone gets paid
Each person is paid separately — Genie handles the split, you never handle anyone's pay.
Managed teams (Genie-priced cleaning): Genie sets one price for the host and pays each cleaner directly for their own on-site hours — the margin is the built-in spread. More cleaners just split the work & finish faster; the host's price doesn't change with crew size.
Movers & moving-helpers: the labour splits across the crew and Genie's 20% fee applies to each member's share. Materials, mileage & 100% of tips go to the pro in full.
